About me

Early years

I grew up in Crowthorne, a small Berkshire village. I became interested in drama and ballet from a young age, and happily walked to dance lessons on my own from seven onwards. In my final year at Oaklands Primary, I was asked to direct the school’s Christmas play. I chose “The Mistletoe Bough”.

school

For the next seven years, I was a pupil at Ranelagh Grammar School in Bracknell. The school gave me many wonderful opportunities – I appeared in several school plays, and set up and ran a weekly Drama Club for the Junior School. I also joined Wokingham Theatre and appeared in a number of their productions.

university

I won a place at Oxford University where I emerged with an MA in English Literature despite spending all (and I mean all) my free time appearing in plays. In my final year, Matthew Francis cast me as Rosalind in his production of “As You Like It” which was staged at the Oxford Playhouse. I also played King Louis in the University’s post-Schools show “The Jungle Book”.

drama school & Beyond

I moved to London to take up a place at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. However, after graduating, I realised (rather belatedly…) that I wasn’t ready to be a professional actor.

I then spent many years working in various fields – commercials, theatre production, running venues, managing town centres, and then developing a career as a performance and risk manager.

Returning to Acting

Becoming a member of South London Theatre twelve years ago transformed my life! I rediscovered the joys of acting, and worked with some of the most talented and delightful people I have ever met.

Subsequently I became a member of Sedos in the City, playing leading roles in Shakespearean and musical theatre productions at the Bridewell Theatre in Blackfriars.

The Present...

I have now left the corporate world and full-time working, so that I can pursue my goal of building up my screen work.

When I am not acting, I work part-time in a Category B men’s prison, supporting prisoners who want help to address their substance misuse issues. This is highly challenging but very fulfilling.
